Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan attacked attempts by senior political parties to "divide-and-conquer" heads of Judea and Samaria authorities, causing each one to "scramble for sovereignty in his territory."
Dagan is concerned over two possible scenarios: One: leaving Jewish communities isolated, and the second: "Symbolic" sovereignty over some areas and the rest "to be left for some imaginary Phase II, which means 'Sovereignty Lite' and 'Israbluff Sovereignty'," as it were.
"Unfortunately, in recent days, we witnessed puzzling and ugly attempts by political parties to divide and conquer and cause every Yesha Council head to scramble for sovereignty in his territory. I announce here and now: It won't work. We won't accept an Israbluff sovereignty," he stressed.
The National Union Party today launched a new campaign to reveal the similarities between the period prior to the Gaza disengagement led by Ariel Sharon and today with Netanyahu leading the Deal of the Century's implementation that prepares the infrastructure for a Palestinian state.
The divide-and-conquer principle was used before the Gaza expulsion, when some local leaders of Gaza's Jews knew that other leaders were disseminating government disinformation but did not dare protest obtrusively for fear of disturbing the rumored “consensus” – where no one knew for sure if their community was inside or outside the “national consensus” of communities that are supposed to stay in place in any permanent agreement.
By the time Gaza’s Jews figured out that they were all “outside of the consensus”, Israel’s expulsion juggernaut was well-trained and ready. For the loyal Jews of Gaza still struggling to ingratiate themselves with soldiers by bringing them cookies and lemonade, it was too late.
The Jews of Gaza may not have heeded Disengagement Authority officials, but they still had trust in their establishment leaders. Sharon and others used this known fact as part of their calculated plan to mislead Gaza’s Jews and their supporters. They were able to evict the Jews from their homes owing to the help of some of their leaders and rabbis.
"I'm very worried," Dagan continued. "We're in historical times when leaders like Prime Minister Netanyahu have to make historical decisions. I'm afraid of a symbolic show sovereignty, or just as bad: a sovereignty map that creates a withdrawal map that takes out 19 communities - over 20,000 residents - four times the size of Gush Katif, and actually creates a second disengagement. We have an alliance with Netanyahu, I expect Netanyahu to keep this alliance," he said.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump's senior advisor Kellyanne Conway told journalists: "There are conversations being had in the White House on the matter of annexation. Obviously the President will have an announcement. He’s talked about this in the past and I’ll leave it to him to give you a big announcement."
