
459 new coronavirus cases have been diagnosed over the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry announced Tuesday evening.
The figure represents a significant increase in the number of new cases which were reported yesterday, when 377 new cases were diagnosed. Monday's total had already pushed the daily infection rate to its highest level in two months.
By comparison, 556 new cases were reported two months ago, on April 22nd. The record number of new cases identified in a single day is 765, recorded on April 2nd.
The total number of infections since the beginning of the epidemic has risen to 21,467, while the number of active cases rose to 5,299. 27 patients are on ventilators.
The death toll from the disease has risen to 308 people. About 15,860 patients have recovered from the coronavirus.
