Pink Floyd co-founder and notorious anti-Israel activist Roger Waters said in a June 20, 2020 interview with the Hamas-affiliated Shehab News Agency from Gaza that American businessman Sheldon Adelson is a “right-wing fascist racist bigot” and a “puppet master” who is pulling the strings of US President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, to whom Waters erroneously referred as “Greenberg.”
Waters claimed that Adelson believes that only Jewish people are completely human, that everybody else was put on Earth to serve the Jews, and that the establishment of a “Greater Israel” that includes all of Jordan and “historic Palestine” would solve the world’s problems.
On the subject of the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Waters said that America’s militarized police forces learned the technique of killing people by kneeling on their neck from the IDF, which he said uses this technique to murder Palestinian Arabs. He added that the American police forces have flown in Israeli experts to teach them how to murder black people since the IDF is so efficient at murdering Palestinians.
Waters also called Zionism an “ugly stain” that must be removed. The remarks were posted to the internet on Sunday by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).
Waters is notorious for his support for BDS and for his anti-Israel statements and actions.
The rock artist has verbally attacked and pressured many artists who chose to perform in Israel over the last several years.
Waters has in the past compared Israel to Nazi Germany and released a giant balloon pig bearing the Star of David during a concert in Belgium. Concert-goers said the Jewish star was among several symbols representing various corporations and fascist movements.
In defense of his actions, Waters argues that BDS “isn’t about music – it’s about human rights.”
Last month, he appeared at a Nakba Day event during which he performed a song seemingly calling for the termination of the State of Israel and its replacement with a Palestinian state.
