Israel's Health Ministry on Saturday night reported that 294 coronavirus cases were diagnosed since Friday, and one person had died.

So far, a total of 305 Israelis have died of coronavirus.

The number of patients on ventilators has dropped from 29 to 27, the Ministry added. The number of active coronavirus cases is now 4,668.

On Friday, a total of 349 coronavirus cases were diagnosed - the highest number since April.

A new report published by the Information and Knowledge Center warned that if the number of new infections continues to rise, there will be over 1,000 new cases daily within a month, as well as hundreds more deaths.

Meanwhile, MK Naftali Bennett (Yamina) warned that a second wave of infections could seriously harm Israel's economy.

"A tsunami of livelihood destruction is on its way to our shores," he said. "The tsunami will destroy the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of Israelis."

"I really don't understand what's happening here. I'm not joking. I've been warning about this for several long weeks. We need to prepare." He added that he has "already published two action plans" but for some reason the government hasn't dealt with the issue.
