Elor Azariya, the former soldier who was convicted for shooting and killing a terrorist who was already neutralized in Hebron, has filed a claim with the Defense Ministry's Rehabilitation Department demanding recognition as a disabled IDF veteran as a result of the affair.

According to the report by Channel 13 News, Azariya claimed that he has suffered psychological and emotional damage as a result of the affair.

Azariya was released from prison two years ago after serving nine months for killing a terrorist who had stabbed and wounded another soldier in Hebron. Upon his release, Azariya told Arutz Sheva: "There are many things the public does not know about the affair - and when they find out, they will be shocked at how an IDF soldier was treated."

"I was called a liar, I was called a racist, I was called a killer - but everything was a lie. I shot a terrorist who was not subdued and who still posed a danger. I acted like my commanders taught me. I didn't ask for special treatment, but I also didn't expect my immediate commanders to abandon me in the battlefield and that the chief of staff and the defense minister would throw me into the dogs to please B'Tselem and our enemies. What happened to me cannot happen to another soldier," Azariya said.
