(11 August – 06:06) The mother of two was murdered by terrorist gunfire on Saturday night in the Jordan Valley community of Mechora.
Shortly after 10:00pm, a lone terrorist infiltrated the gated community and opened fire in all directions. The gunfire struck the car belonging to community residents, killing the woman and injuring her 30-year-old husband who is reported in serious condition in Jerusalem's Hadassah Hospital.
When the terrorist penetrated the electronic security fence, an alert was sent to security personnel, leading to the activation of the area IDF forces, members of the Nahal Hareidi infantry unit. The commander of the unit shot and killed the terrorist but residents were instructed to remain in their homes for some time following until it was determined with certainty there were no additional terrorists at large.
The name of the victim is not yet cleared for publication pending notification of family.
