Former Islamic JIhad leader Ramadan Shalah has died at age 62.
In 1985, Shalah left to study in England, eventually receiving a Ph.D. in banking and economics from the University of Durham.
In 1995, following the elimination of Islamic Jihad co-founder and leader Fathi Shaqaqi, Shalah became Secretary-General of the terror group.
He made his headquarters in the terror group's Damascus office, overseeing from there the group's terror attacks and rocket launches against Israel.
Two years ago, Shalah suffered a stroke, and it is believed that he became comatose. He was hospitalized several times n Hezbollah's hospital in Beirut, Lebanon.
In September 2018, following reports from doctors that Shalah would probably never make a full recovery, Islamic Jihad appointed Ziad al-Nakhala as his successor.
