Israeli troops late last night, backed by more than 30 tanks and armored vehicles went house-to-house in search for wanted terrorists in the PLO-controlled neighborhoods of Beit Lahiya and Jabalya in northern Gaza. A Palestinian Authority policeman was killed two others Arabs were injured in the operation. The force pulled out of the area this morning.



Also last night, two soldiers operating near Kadim in the northern Shomron suffered light to moderate injuries when they were targeted by Arab gunfire… A soldier was lightly wounded in a rock throwing attack near Ramallah… Arabs threw grenades at soldiers in southern Gaza last night. No injuries were reported. There were no reports of injuries in a firebomb attack against soldiers stationed near Hevron.



In other war related news Prime Minister Sharon is meeting this morning with top-level security officials to discuss mounting intelligence, which reveals that the Arabs are planning a “mega attack” on an Israeli target. One such attack was thwarted in April when troops in Kalkilya intercepted a car packed with explosives. Arabs had planned to detonate the explosives inside a parking lot underneath a Tel-Aviv skyscraper. Another potential catastrophe was averted in May when Arabs placed a bomb under a fuel tanker at the Pi Gelilot depot, near Herzliya setting the tanker ablaze but causing no injuries.
