Despite the non-stop PLO-sponsored terror, Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer held talks with top Palestinian Authority officials last night. Representing the PA were Abdel Razik al-Yihya, who holds the PA’s Interior portfolio, and Mohammed Dahlan, a security adviser to Yasser Arafat. Dahlan was behind the October 2000 attack on a school bus in Kfar Darom that left two Jewish teachers dead and maimed three children of the same family.
Ben-Eliezer actually proposed a “Gaza first” plan, under which Israel would transfer to the PA security control of certain Gaza areas, in exchange for a PA clamp-down on terrorism. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has given his blessing to the proposal.
