The Supreme Court decided today that 43 Palestinian families whose homes are slated for IDF demolition need not be informed in advance. The army claimed that advance warning for the inhabitants of the buildings - in which lived the perpetrators and planners of suicide attacks against Israelis - would allow them to boobytrap the homes, thus endangering IDF soldiers.
Eleven homes have been demolished in the past few days. Human rights groups have said house demolitions constitute collective punishment, while Israel maintains that such measures provide an important deterrent in its war against terrorism.
