MK Avigdor Lieberman (Yisrael Beiteinu) told Army Radio today that Prime Minister Sharon should resign and should take Foreign Minister Peres with him to a "suitable old-age home." Lieberman, who resigned from Sharon's government a few months ago, said that Sharon has
"totally failed. Before the elections, the man promised peace and security. There is no peace, there is no security. There is no path, no diplomatic goals..." Lieberman said again that Arafat should be expelled.
MK Michael Kleiner, Herut Party chairman demands that Israel change its approach to fighting the war against terrorism. Kleiner, the only Herut member in the Knesset, said yesterday,
"Israel will not be able to win unless it changes the proportion of casualties. For every victim of ours, there must be 1,000 dead Palestinians. If the government refrains from bombing the [PLO-controlled] cities from the air, we will continue to suffer losses, and we will stand defenseless against the rising wave of terrorism."
Yaakov (Ketzaleh) Katz, Executive-Director of Arutz-7 and a long-time acquaintance and former aide to Ariel Sharon, was asked today how he explains Sharon's lack of action. His response:
"First of all, I cannot help but take this opportunity while speaking here on Arutz-7 to call upon world Jewry to come on aliyah [immigrate to Israel] and help strengthen us here. Religious Jews and Jews of faith must realize that instead of causing a desecration of G-d's Name [by remaining outside Israel; see Ezekiel 36, 20], they can cause the sanctification of G-d's Name by coming here. Every couple that gets married must realize this, and everyone else, is called upon to come here and support us in this way. This will be our initial response - one of strength, faith, and encouragement for the entire nation.
"Regarding Arik: he is a great war hero who gave so much to this country, and he certainly doesn't need me to give him marks... What must be done now is to declare total war. All of the IDF's reserves must be called up and a state of emergency must be declared [so that we need not] worry about the Supreme Court and the State Prosecution, but rather concentrate all our efforts for a month or two on winning this war. We must cut off all the Arab towns, collect every single weapon, gather all the men, destroy every house that was used or will be used by terrorists, and to try once and for all to use all the IDF's power. This war is no different than the Yom Kippur War or the Six-Day War, and at the end, it will have to be done anyway - and every day that goes by with more killing and terrorism causes more damage...
"Unfortunately, Arik is surrounded by small-minded advisors who advise him how to be a middle-of-the-road politician, a lack-of-action type... But Sharon wasn't elected in order to be led by the nose by the 'center,' but rather to lead us to victory and to better times, even if it will be difficult... We must use the army's entire strength. The reserves must be called up for a month or two; it will cost a lot of money, but it will be cheaper in the end. We must win this war; we cannot continue being slaughtered in Eretz Yisrael, with every other day another family getting ripped apart..."
