
Rabbi Chaim Aharon Turchin, the dean of the Ohr Yitzhak yeshiva in Bnei Brak, passed away early Tuesday morning after becoming infected with the coronavirus, becoming the 180th coronavirus-related fatality in Israel.
After becoming infected with the virus, Rabbi Turchin’s condition deteriorated last week, and he was placed on assisted breathing. He had no known preexisting medical conditions.

Hospital officials at Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv said doctors were unable to stabilize Rabbi Turchin’s condition, and early Tuesday morning he passed away as a result of the infection.
The 48-year-old rabbi is survived by his 14 children, five of whom are married. He is expected to be laid to rest in Bnei Brak Tuesday afternoon.
