Foreign Minister Shimon Peres is currently in the United States meeting with top US officials. Yesterday Peres met with President Bush as well as National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice, and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. The officials discussed the US plan to oust Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. Also on the table were discussions about the Hizbullah terror gang's desire to open a new war front on Israel's northern border.



Peres will meet with UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in New York today. Yesterday the Foreign Ministry released a statement praising the United Nations fact-finding report on Israel's incursion into Jenin during Operation Defensive Shield. According to the report, contrary to PLO claims, Israel did not carry out a massacre in Jenin.
