Thousands of Arabs living in PLO-controlled Gaza City took to the streets last night to celebrate the deadly bombing at Hebrew University. Music blared from speakers as Arabs of all ages danced and sang into the late hours of the night. Several men climbed on to the roof of a car and threw candy into the crowd. Similar partying erupted in Arab areas throughout the Palestinian Authority following the World Trade Center attack last September.
HaTzofeh newspaper quoted Lia, a 22-year-old student from Tel Aviv, who said that she saw similar expressions of joy even within the university. After yesterday's attack, she said she saw "smiling and happy" Arab university students responding to the news.
