The members of Kibbutz Snir in the Golan hosted families from Itamar and teachers from the yeshiva high school this past week. Itamar, about half-way in between Jerusalem and Afula in north-central Samaria and has suffered a number of fatal terrorist attacks during the ongoing Oslo War, including the murders of Aryeh Agronyoni, Meir Lixenberg, Yossi Tuito, four yeshiva high school students in two separate attacks, and Rachel Shabo and three of her seven children. The people of Kibbutz Snir thus expressed their concern for and friendship with the residents of Itamar during their difficult times.
In other news from the north, children of the Golan will send off hundreds of balloons towards the Syrian border this afternoon, calling for the release of the Israeli prisoners held in Lebanon. Children from all the Golan communities will take part in releasing the balloons from an orchard in Kibbutz Ein Zivan, just west of what used to be the Syrian city of Kuneitra. Among the balloons will be one giant one with a call in Arabic for the release of the abducted Israelis.
