MK Zevulun Orlev of the National Religious Party appears to be the winner of the theoretical Most Diligent MK. Statistics released by the Knesset show that he delivered the most speeches (569), passed 12 laws (2nd place), was present at 96% of the sessions (5th place), and took part in the largest amount of Knesset votes (65%). He also was first in Knesset queries, with 76, and in proposals for the agenda (107). \"This is not a competition,\" Orlev said today. \"We were elected to serve the public, and we must fulfill this mission in the best way. The religious-Zionist public deserves high-quality representatives in the Knesset.\"
Orlev, Chairman of the Knesset Education Committee, called on his party to resign from the government if a planned Education Ministry budget cut is approved. The cut would lead to thousands of teachers being fired and the loss of tens of thousands of school hours.
