Israel has been on the receiving end of a violent Arab barrage over the past twenty-four hours. At least eight mortar shells landed in or near Jewish communities in Gush Katif. Two residents suffered light shrapnel wounds. In addition, Arabs fired several Kassam rockets at the southern community of Sderot. The rockets landed in an field near several homes causing no injuries.



Arab bullets struck a passenger car traveling near the community of Ma’ale Levona, north of Jerusalem, late last night. The driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed. He and his wife, who sustained light injures in the crash, got out of the car and hid in the nearby brush, fearing that the Arabs would attempt to finish them off. In the end, they succeeded in flagging down a passing motorist, who drove them to safety.



Also last night, Arabs threw at least 30 grenades at the IDF’s Tarmit outpost in the Rafiach area. No injuries were reported. In addition, two soldiers were lightly wounded by Arab gunfire near the Jewish communities of Kadim and Ganim, in the northern Shomron.
