The Israel Emergency Solidarity Fund (IESF) and a New York restaurant are teaming up for an innovative project to support Israel\'s victims of terror. Volunteers are \"chipping in\" to help bake a million kosher chocolate chip cookies at the JCC of Manhattan, all proceeds of which will be donated to help support the emergency needs of Israeli families that have been hit by terror. Assistance to families is provided according to need as determined by an allocation committee that is overseen by a rabbinical review board. Members of the latter include Rabbi Hershel Billet, Rabbi Yaakov Lerner, and Rabbi Mordechai Willig.
Although Israel\'s National Insurance Institute provides for the families\' basic needs, funds collected by the IESF go towards additional financial support, psychological or child-care services, items such as beds, washing machines, and refrigerators, and the celebration of happy occasions.
