An Israeli businessman brought to Israel what he thought were blood, urine and palate samples of missing navigator Ron Arad - but he turned out to be mistaken.

The Israeli, Nati Meir, said that a Romanian politician with contacts with Iran had told him that he could receive samples of Ron Arad\'s tissues. Meir spoke with the Israeli Defense Ministry, and the two reached an agreement: If the tissues proved to be from Arad, the Iranian would receive $150,000, and the Israeli authorities would drop all criminal charges they had previously raised against Meir. After months of working on the details, and after weeks of waiting for the samples, and after having had his belongings stolen at the drop-off point in Azerbaijan, Meir finally received the samples and flew directly to Israel. Unfortunately, tests at Abu Kabir Forensic Institute near Tel Aviv showed that the tissues did not match the other members of the Arad family.

The last sign of life from Ron Arad, who was captured in Lebanon in 1986, was received 14 years ago. He is 44 years old.
