The Knesset is due to vote two days from now, July 17, on the POW-MIA Bill, what could be a significant step forward in the effort to gain information on missing Israelis. If the bill is passed, no peace agreement with Syria, Lebanon or the Palestinian Authority will be valid unless the entity with which the agreement is signed [Syria, Lebanon or the PA] has handed over all information it has concerning the fate of Israeli\'s missing POWs, MIAs, fallen soldiers \"whose place of burial is not known,\" and abducted citizens.
The above would include information on the three soldiers from the Sultan Yaqub battle - Yehuda Katz, Zachary Baumel, and Tzvi Feldman; Guy Hever, a soldier who disappeared in the Golan not far from the Syrian border; Benny Avraham, Adi Avitan, and Omar Souad, who were kidnapped at the Israeli-Lebanese border almost two years ago and are presumed dead; and civilian Elchanan Tenenbaum, who was kidnapped by Hizbullah in Switzerland. Arutz-7\'s Yosef Zalmanson noted that the name of Ron Arad, the navigator who was felled over Lebanon in 1986, did not appear in the proposal\'s \"background information.\" He was informed by an aide to Likud MK Ze\'ev Boim, the bill\'s sponsor, that in all likelihood all the names would appear in the final version on Wednesday. The aide said that the bill has government support, and appears assured of success.
