(Updated Thursday 10:30 AM) Funeral Services were held last night for 24-year-old slain IDF Captain Hagai Haim Lev. Lev was killed yesterday when Arabs, waiting in ambush, opened fire on his position, as he and his Givati reconnaissance unit were searching for arms-smuggling tunnels in Rafiach, near the Egyptian border. Following the incident, soldiers arrested three wanted Arabs in the area of the shooting.
Lev, whose wife gave birth to a baby girl just three weeks ago, grew up in the Gush Etzion community of Efrat. Yesterday Efrat’s Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Shlomo Riskin, dedicated his weekly, D’var Torah, broadcast on Arutz Sheva’s website, to the memory of Captain Lev. The D’var Torah can be heard by clicking here.
