Forty Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria will be enclosed by electronic fences, as per a recent decision made jointly by security forces and Yesha representatives. Construction of the fence has already begun in the Shomron community Itamar, where eight Jews have been killed in two terrorist attacks in the past several weeks. Rabbi Avi Ronsky of Itamar said today that most of the residents who objected in the past to a fence of this nature have withdrawn their objections. Plans are also afoot to provide community-wide communications systems so that residents can be updated in real time regarding security incidents.

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon appointed a committee today that would decide on ways to ease the difficulties of the civilian population in the PA areas. The committee will be comprised of Foreign Minister Shimon Peres, Minister Danny Naveh, and Finance Minister Director-General Ohad Marani.
