Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Wednesday afternoon met Yisrael Beytenu Chairman Avigdor Liberman for coalition negotiations.

The two discussed Yisrael Beytenu's demands and conditions for entering the coalition.

"There was a good atmosphere during the meeting, and we focused on creating an acceptable defense policy and maintaining the status quo regarding religion and state," a statement from Liberman's office read. "Both sides have told their negotiating staff to continue the discussions."

On Tuesday, Liberman emphasized that his party is "in favor of a Jewish state, and against a religious state" and emphasized that until the basic issues had been worked out, the party would not discuss portfolios.

"That needs to be very clear," he said.
