Four and a half thousand Jewish students will be arriving in Israel this month as part of the Birthright Israel program. The program provides a free 10-day educational trip to Israel for qualifying Jewish students who have not had a similar experience before. This summer\'s students, who will be arriving from 14 different countries, will visit important Jewish and Israeli sites and will meet with Israeli soldiers and students.
Sixty-five Jewish women students have arrived from the former Soviet Union to take part in a summer seminar in Orot College in Elkanah, Shomron. As part of their studies in Beit Chanah Teachers Seminary in the CIS, the students will spend their summer here studying Hebrew, Judaism, and Bible. Beit Chanah trains teachers for 50 Ohr Avner schools throughout Russia; both organizations were founded by philanthropist Lev Levayev.
