Diaspora Affairs Minister Naftali Bennett responded to the Saturday shooting attack at the Chabad of Poway synagogue.

The attack killed one person and injured three others.

‎"I am following with deep concern the tragic events in Poway, California, as once again Jewish blood has been spilled on one of our holiest days, in a place of prayer," Bennett said.

"And even in the face of this terror and hatred, once again we are hearing reports of unrivaled bravery as the rabbi of the community - who was himself injured - sought to defend his congregants from the vicious shooter.

"Let all who wish the Jewish people harm understand: We are a strong people and we are a united people and we will never be defeated by hatred. The people of Israel stand side by side with our brothers and sisters in America, and with all the American people against this and all forms of terror.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured and all the Jewish community there. And I want to thank the local police department and emergency responders who it appears reacted quickly and professionally to prevent the tragedy being even more grave."

US President Donald Trump tweeted: "Thoughts and prayers to all of those affected by the shooting at the Synagogue in Poway, California. God bless you all. Suspect apprehended. Law enforcement did outstanding job. Thank you!"

First Lady Melania Trump tweeted: "On this last day of Passover, I was heartbroken to hear of another senseless shooting in a place of worship. My heart & prayers go out to all affected in the community."

World Jewish Congress (WJC) CEO Robert Singer said, "The World Jewish Congress is shocked by the horrific shooting attack at a San Diego synagogue, which according to reports caused death and injuries. We send our condolences to the victims' families and pray for those who were injured. The end of the Passover holiday, which symbolizes the Jewish nation's freedom, is now under the shadow of a frightening act which symbolizes the exact opposite of liberty and freedom. In these difficult moments, we send our support to the members of the local Jewish community, and we express our deep solidarity. We are sure the local authorities will work to bring the perpetrators to justice.
