Arutz-7\'s Ariel Kahane spoke today with Prof. Ron Breiman, Chairman of Professors for a Strong Israel. \"Let\'s not fool ourselves or have false hopes,\" Breiman said of reports that Arafat was conducting reforms. \"He can shave and put on aftershave, and can make various changes in his military leadership, but he\'ll still be the same Arafat... This does not mean he has no value to us. Although he deserves death, he serves our interest in that he saves us from the foolish steps of some of our leaders who wish to implement a Palestinian state. Our problem is not with him so much as with the idea of a Palestinian state, which is very dangerous for... Peace and a Palestinian state are a contradiction in terms... A Palestinian state means the liquidation of the State of Israel.\"
In light of the Labor Party convention, at which ex-Prime Minister Ehud Barak told his colleagues that Labor would never return to power if it does not realize that Arafat is to blame for the lack of peace, Breiman said,
\"Unfortunately, Barak himself has not learned his own lessons. When he uses the term \'peace camp,\' it means that he still thinks that Oslo was a basis for peace. Yesterday I heard Oslo-architect Ron Pundak speak, and it made me realize again that the left wing is very far from understanding all the damage it caused the State of Israel in the past nine years. Pundak actually said that Barak was more to blame than Arafat for the failure of Oslo, in that he didn\'t offer enough at Camp David... Barak, too, does not understand the great damage he caused Israel in three areas: his Camp David concessions, his flight from Lebanon, and his failure to react when the Oslo War first broke out, thus allowing it to continue up til this very day.\"
