PA leader Yasser Arafat made several personnel changes in his government yesterday, in an attempt to convince the world that he is serious about reform. Arafat fired Jibril Rajoub, the head of Arafat’s Preventative Security Force in Judea and Samaria. Former Jenin governor, Zohir Manasra, will replace Rajoub.
Arafat fired several other members of his PA yesterday including police chief Ghazi Jabali, and Civil Defense Leader, Mahmoud Abu Marzouk. Jabali will be replaced by his deputy, Salim Barduni, while Abu Marzouk’s position will be filled by Omar Ashor, a former Arafat military liaison.
