Police sappers safely detonated this morning a bomb found outside Givat Ze\'ev, north of Jerusalem. The three-pipebomb contraption was hidden inside a briefcase, and police assume that it was intended for an attack in the capital. The explosive was originally detected on Saturday, and the police set up a stakeout in the hope of catching the terrorist coming to pick it up - but no one showed up.

A small battle developed this morning near the Israeli-Egyptian border at Rafiach. One soldier was wounded lightly. Israeli tanks entered Rafiach during the night, and destroyed a building; one armed Arab was injured in an exchange of fire. The Israeli operations there are designed to find arms-smuggling tunnels.
