An Israeli naval commando force killed one of the most murderous terrorists in the entire Palestinian Authority last night: Muhanad Taher, involved in attacks claiming the lives of 121 Israelis. He was killed in a shoot-out in Shechem. The force surrounded the area of the house in which he was hiding, and in the ensuing exchange of fire, he and his aide were killed; a third terrorist was seriously wounded and evacuated to Tel HaShomer Hospital. The forces demolished the building in which Taher hid.

An expert in explosives preparation, Taher was involved in dozens of attacks, including the Gilo bus bombing (19 killed), the Seder Night Massacre (29), the Dolphinarium (15), and more. His demise is the latest in a series of recent successful strikes at Hamas leaders in the Shomron, following the elimination of Jamal Mansour, Jamal Damouni, several other top leaders, and several of their successors in top Hamas positions.

IDF forces detained all the men in the Al-Amari slum near Ramallah yesterday, and made other important arrests west of Hevron, near Tul Karem, and elsewhere. Prime Minister Sharon, together with Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer and IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Sha\'ul Mofaz, decided that curfews would soon be imposed on the PA-controlled cities only at night, in order to make life easier for the residents.
