Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer plans to uproot about a dozen or more of the new Yesha outposts in the coming days. He said as much to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee yesterday, and later explained that he is studying the matter of the \"illegal outposts.\" He said that his decision would be governed by considerations of the safety of the outpost residents and also by the legal issues involved.

Yesha Council spokesman Yehoshua Mor-Yosef told Arutz-7 yesterday that a compromise was on the horizon, and that it would not involve the evacuation of people from their homes. The Yesha Council has often said that most of the outposts are perfectly legal, and that the others are illegal only \"on technicalities.\"

Minister Effie Eitam was strongly critical of Ben-Eliezer\'s remarks, saying, \"He lets fly many statements... his accomplishments as Defense Minister are paltry. To do such a thing [remove outposts] would clearly be a reward for the terrorists, who would see it as the beginning of the realization of their dream of getting rid of every single Jew from here. It would be a great downfall for us.\"
