Arutz Sheva sat down today with Likud Knesset Member Yehuda Glick, to get his reaction to Education Minister Naftali Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked’s announcement that they will be leaving the Jewish Home Party.
“I strongly believe that the Zionist religious camp, the modern Orthodox community should not be another segment, another party. We should be involved in all of klal Israel (All Jews). That was the message of our leader, Rav Kook. When he spoke about Religious Zionism, he spoke about leading Am Israel (Jewish Nation). Leading Am Israel cannot be done in another small party, in another faction and another fraction and breaking up the pieces.
"I'm afraid. I'm afraid of this new party led by Shaked and Bennett. Both of them I have a lot of respect for, I think they are very serious people. But I don't think they're doing the right thing. I'm afraid we are going to lose too many votes for the right wing party, but I'm also afraid of the division of the Religious Zionist community. We should not be another party. We are not the ultra-Orthodox parties, we are part of Am Israel.
“The mass majority, the biggest party that receives most votes from Zionist religious community is the Likud. Many others vote for Yesh Atid. That's the way it should be. There should not be another sectorial party for the religious Zionist community. Therefore, I think the fraction, the breaking apart, is not going to bring any good. I call upon Naftali Bennett and Ayelet Shaked not to take the risk again and really to either stay together with the Bayit Yehudi (Jewish House Party) or join the Likud. Because Likud is the party.
“I call upon Likud to put together a high-quality team so we can go to the elections and be respectful and really take this election and get what we deserve: 40 or 50 seats in the next Knesset.”
