The Knesset Finance Committee on Thursday approved tens of millions of shekels earmarked for security issues in Judea and Samaria and other issues.
This is a move that has been on the committee's agenda for a long time but got stuck in the wake of bureaucratic foot-dragging and delays created by committee chairman MK Gafni (UTJ).
MK Betzalel Smotrich (Jewish Home) led the struggle for the transfer of funds along with the efforts of Binyamin Council head Yisrael Gantz and the council's treasurer Yisrael Malachi, and the head of the Samaria Council Yossi Dagan.
The struggle included stopping votes and delaying additional budgets, and led to the release of funds in the last few hours at a meeting of the Finance Committee, which was convened specifically for this purpose.
"It is a great privilege to finish the term with important assistance to the settlements," said Smotrich. "I will continue, with G-d's help, to serve the settlements and the entire people of Israel."
