Lebanon’s minister of transportation said Wednesday that Lebanon had drafted a complaint against Israel that it would submit to the UN Security Council on Thursday.

The minister said the complaint deals with the infiltration of Israeli Air Force planes into his country’s territory during the air strike attributed to Israel that took place in Syria on Tuesday night.

Lebanon’s complaint is based on the statements of the Russian Defense Ministry, which earlier on Wednesday attributed the attack in Syria to Israel, claiming that the planes that carried it out had endangered Russian civilian aircraft.

According to Russia's Defense Ministry, the planes landed at Damascus airport during the attack.

"We are very concerned about Israel's attacks on Syrian territory, a serious violation of Syrian sovereignty and Security Council resolutions," the Russian official statement said.

Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz responded to Russia’s claims, telling Army Radio, "Israel carefully examines how not to harm the Russian army in Syria, and certainly not civilian flights."

Newsweek reported on Tuesday night that the air strike in Syria had targeted several leaders of the Hezbollah terrorist group.

The information was given to Newsweek from a Department of Defense source with access to the information.

Several Iranian ammunition supply points were also a target of the bombing, the source said. The supply points contained valuable, GPS-guided ammunition from 2017, some of the best available to the Iranian army and Hezbollah.

The IDF has not commented on the air strike, though an unnamed Israeli official confirmed to The Associated Press on Wednesday night that Israel had carried out an overnight air strike in Syria, hitting a series of Iranian targets.
