A Bnei Brak family made the news today after their desperate plea to the public went viral. Widower Yosef Green and his 7 children have twenty-four hours to save their home.
The children's mother died of cancer at just 43. In the years that have passed since, Yosef has raised his children single-handedly. They live in an appallingly small living space, and are content with the absolute basics.
Today, the family received a notice from the court system that they will be evicted if they do not deposit a shocking $22,000 into their bank account in the next 24 hours. The family has nowhere near that sum of money saved up, and Yosef is at a complete loss as to how to save his children from now imminent homelessness.
The winter has descended upon Israel, and the streets are harshly cold. It is no place for 7 children.
An emergency fund has been opened, as every passing minute is of the utmost importance. The campaign has the backing of Bnei Brak-based charity organization Kupat Ha’Ir.
The family and those close to them are following the campaign’s progress closely. Though donations have begun to trickle in, only the total sum needed will save them from eviction. Though their futures have yet to be revealed, one thing is certain: Yosef Green will not be sleeping tonight.
