הסבא נהרג, הנכדה נפצעה קשה

A grandfather was killed and his granddaughter seriously injured this morning, Sunday, on Route 2410 in the direction of Kissufim in southern Israel.

The 9-year-old girl was seriously injured in the accident, as was the other driver, a man of about 40. MDA medics treated the injured and a helicopter was dispatched to the scene.

According to MDA, the 9-year-old girl suffers from injuries to her head and limbs, while the man in his forties suffers from injuries to his chest and limbs. The two will be evacuated with the help of an MDA helicopter to Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva.

A preliminary investigation of police officers who arrived at the scene revealed that the accident was apparently a frontal collision. The accident is being investigated by road accident examiners from the Negev region.

Senior MDA medic Ayelet Ram said, "This was a serious road accident between two private vehicles. One of the vehicles was on the side of the road with two passengers inside. The driver, about 50 years old, was unconscious with a systemic injury. We performed medical tests on him, but he was without signs of life and his death was soon confirmed. A girl who was also in the car and was seriously injured was treated at the scene and evacuated by helicopter to Soroka with the driver of the second car who was trapped and rescued while suffering severe injuries to his upper body."
