Social workers' resumed pressure today after a month when workers did not impose sanctions and waited for results of negotiations between their representatives and the Finance Ministry.

Today, all welfare services in the north are suspended to increase pressure. The strike precludes receiving the public and writing court reports, cancels all decision committees on minors at risk, and closes centers for treating domestic violence.

Social workers in the Education Ministry, National Insurance Institute, health system, hospitals, health funds, and mental health centers joined in the strike.

The Histadrut declared a labor dispute two weeks ago and workers waited for the imposed time to strike.

Today, hundreds of social workers will demonstrate in front of the government compound in Haifa.

The Social Workers Union said this morning that "following the disregard of Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon and Welfare Minister Chaim Katz of the social workers' crisis, all welfare services will be shut down from Kiryat Shmona to Hadera."
