The 34th World Zionist Congress held its concluding session this afternoon, after hearing an address by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. Sharon said that recent Palestinian terrorism is the product of cooperation among Teheran, Baghdad, Damascus, and Osama Bin-Laden.
The Congress passed a resolution, sponsored by Herut, calling on U.S. President George Bush to pardon Jonathan Pollard, and calling on Jews all over the world to work for Pollard\'s release. The Congress also passed a resolution calling upon the Knesset to pass a law allowing Israelis their choice of marriage ceremony: Orthodox (as is the current sole choice), Conservative, Reform, or secular. Other resolutions included a reaffirmation of the importance of Israel, aliyah, Jewish Zionist education, the fight against anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism, settlement of the Negev and the Galilee, and the centrality of Jerusalem.
