The IDF is currently operating in towns throughout Yesha (Judea, Samaria, in Gaza) in response to the latest wave of Arab suicide bombings that have left 26 Israelis dead since Tuesday. Troops, backed by armored vehicles, have taken up positions in the PLO-controlled towns of Jenin, Kalkillya, Shechem, Ramallah, and Bethlehem.



Last night IDF warplanes and helicopters targeted 4 terrorist strongholds in the Gaza region. During the operation, helicopters fired at weapon-making factories in Khan Yunis and in Gaza City. Arab sources say that six people were wounded in the strikes.



Also last night, two IDF soldiers were killed, and four others were wounded, in a gunbattle with Arab gunmen in PLO-controlled Kalkillya. The fallen soldiers have been identified as St.-Sgt. Yosef Talabi, 20, from Yehud and Maj. Shlomo Cohen,26, of Rehovot.



The force had entered the home of Marzan Suleiman, the head of PA intelligence in the city, in pursuit of suspected terrorists, when they were greeted with a barrage of gunfire and grenades. Troops managed to kill Suleiman along with three other Arabs. Another one of wanted Arabs was arrested.



Soldiers in Jenin yesterday, discovered and then destroyed a bomb-making factory. Several of the devices were ready for use. Also last night troops uncovered and blew up a weapons smuggling tunnel in Southern Gaza, along the Egyptian border.
