Jewish residents in Hevron underwent a hard night of unusually heavy gunfire last night. Spokesman David Wilder, who lives with his family in Hevron\'s Beit Hadassah, said, \"I can only describe it as \'war.\' The shooting came from different directions, and bullets penetrated our homes - including five bullets to mine.\"
Several dozen Hevron residents continued their sit-in - and for many of them, their sleep-in - for the 4th day in a row at the foot of the Abu Sneineh hills today, demanding that the army re-capture the hills. Ten-month-old Shalhevet Pass was murdered by Arab sniper fire from that area, and similar attempts have been made from there since then. The army informed the protestors that they would have to disperse for good by 5 PM today - but it appears that grassroots efforts have borne fruit and that the decree has been put off, at least temporarily. MK Rabbi Chaim Druckman arrived in the city today to encourage the Jewish residents.
