Tens of thousands of Israelis are expected to throng Tel Aviv to mark 23 years since former Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin was murdered.

Rabin was assassinated on November 4, 1995, by Yigal Amir following a political rally in Tel Aviv.

Police say that they have completed security measures for the gathering taking place and will close off roads throughout Tel Aviv.

Meretz chairwoman MK Tamar Zandberg will speak at the memorial ceremony, along with other lawmakers and public figures.

On Wednesday, Hadashot TV reported that Yesh Atid chairman MK Yair Lapid conditioned his participation in the rally in memory of Rabin on the participation of a speaker from one of the right-wing parties.

Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein recently informed the organizers of this year’s memorial rally that he would not speak at the event, citing its apparent political nature
