This morning\'s attempted suicide attack north of Tul Karem occurred just west of where Israel has begun construction of a \"security\" fence designed to separate Israeli cities from Palestinian terrorists. Many Israelis are against the partition, fearing not only that it will serve as a future border between Israel and a Palestinian state, but also that it won\'t provide sufficient security. The Women in Green organization held a protest outside the Knesset in Jerusalem this morning, and co-founder Nadia Matar told Arutz-7 that the construction of \"this political fence is a trick by the Israeli left in order to bring Israel back to the narrow waist of 1967. No fence will bring security. Only the complete defeat and destruction of the enemy will restore our security.\"

Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer said this morning, \"No one can stop this fence, now that Prime Minister Sharon has given his blessing to its every meter.\" Sharon, who said yesterday that he would convene the security cabinet this Wednesday to determine the exact placement of the partition, now says that the issue will be discussed only next Sunday, at the weekly session of the full Cabinet.

Sharon\'s consent to hold another discussion was prompted by objections to the wall expressed by Ministers Yitzchak Levy (NRP) and David Levy (Gesher) at yesterday\'s Cabinet meeting. The two said that the wall as currently being built is not what the government had originally approved. Y. Levy said that the original government decision referred only to buffer zones and various components such as obstacles and fences, \"and under no circumstances did it speak of a fence all along the length of the Green Line.\" Sharon agreed to discuss the matter further next Sunday - but construction of the wall will continue in the meantime.
