IDF soldiers operating in Gaza on Saturday afternoon, thwarted a major car bomb attack between the communities of Dugit and Elei Sinai. Troops discovered a vehicle containing close to 200 kilograms (440 lbs) of explosives including mortar shells, launchers, and nails. The soldiers were able to destroy the vehicle without incident. Late Friday afternoon, a much smaller car bomb was discovered in the same area and was successfully detonated.
In other war news from Gaza, two Israeli soldiers were killed and another four were wounded, one seriously, in a gunbattle with Arabs last night, near the community of Dugit. The soldiers managed to kill one of the Arabs.
The deceased soldiers, 22-year-old IDF St.-Sgt. Hezki Gutman, from Beit El, and 20-year-old Sgt. Alexi Gladkov, from Beersheva, will be laid to rest in their hometown cemeteries this afternoon.
Also last night, Arabs in Gaza fired a Kassam rock at a community within Israel’s pre-1967 borders. No injuries were reported.
