(Updated Wednesday 9 AM) An Arab suicide bomber detonated his explosives outside a Herzliya restaurant yesterday evening, killing 15-year-old Hadar Hirschkovitz and wounding 14 others. Hirschkovitz will be laid to rest this afternoon in a Herzliya cemetary. Amongst the wounded was a 15-year-old boy who is listed in serious condition.
The bomber approached the Mifgash Hasharon Jimil restaurant, in the heart of the town, at around 7:30PM and after asking for some water, blew himself up amidst diners sitting near the restaurant\'s entrance. Despite the carnage caused by the bomb, police say that the device might have been relatively small, or perhaps did not fully explode.
The attack was the first suicide bombing in the town of Herzliya, which is just north of Tel-Aviv, since the start of the Oslo War in September, 2000. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was told of the blast while in the United States meeting with members of the House International Relations Committee. The Prime Minister is scheduled to return to Israel later on today, after meeting with England\'s Prime Minister, Tony Blair.
