Prime Minister Sharon will be meeting with US President George Bush at the White House at 6 PM Israel time (11 AM local time). He met earlier with National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice. Sharon will present the Americans with his vision of a Palestinian Authority without Yasser Arafat at the helm. While some in the Bush administration, including Secretary of State Colin Powell, feel that Arafat should remain in power, other top officials, including Vice President Dick Chaney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld say that Arafat must go. Bush has said repeatedly, including two days ago, that he has been disappointed with Arafat\'s leadership and that Arafat has let his people down. Sharon will also attempt to bolster those who are advising Bush not to declare support for a PLO state at this time.

In yesterday\'s New York Times, Sharon explained why Israel could never return to the pre-1967 borders, and noted that the UN resolutions do not require it to withdraw to those lines.
