In another serious terrorist incident this weekend, an Arab approached the central Shomron community of Yitzhar late last night and opened fire towards the caravan homes housing IDF soldiers. Four soldiers were wounded in the incident, including two in serious but stable condition. The soldiers succeeded in killing the terrorist. The army imposed a curfew upon nearby Arab villages and began intensive searches in the area.

In other incidents, soldiers in Jenin were targeted on Friday afternoon with three pipe bombs, and a military vehicle was shot at on Friday night near Adorayim, south of Hevron; no one was hurt.

MK Uri Ariel (National Union) told Arutz-7 this morning, \"It\'s obviously impossible to protect every single spot. Whoever thinks that fences are the answer has simply learned nothing. If we keep on making more and better fences, we will be helping the fence-builders, but no one else. There is only one answer: deterrence... The only thing that the residents can do is to pressure the government to defeat [the PA]; this is a war, it must be fought like a war, and the government must show results.\" Ariel spoke out against the proposed partition between the Arab-populated areas in Judea/Samaria and the rest of Israel: \"Everyone knows such a fence has to be guarded, for if not, it will simply serve as a place for Arabs to build next to... We don\'t have the manpower to man this 300-km fence...\"

Lt.-Col. Evyatar Cohen of Ofrah told Arutz-7 today that the army has failed to provide an effective response to the increasing terrorism attacks against Yesha (Judea and Samaria) communities, and that the public must demand an end to this situation. In the meantime, he said, \"local residents must volunteer for more guard-duty hours, and our youth, who are mature and responsible and who are familiar with the situation, must be enlisted in this effort as well... We must also be given the wherewithal to establish Civil Guard units, as there are throughout the country.\"
