Maj.-Gen. Yitzchak Eitan, Commander of the IDF Central Command, will award medals to 12 soldiers tomorrow who fought with particular bravery during Operation Defensive Shield. Among them will be two posthumous awards to Capt. Kobi Azulai and Sgt. Menashe Hava, who fell in Jenin. Other awards will be made to a deputy commander of an armored division and five paratrooper division commanders for their role in the Ramallah and Shechem battles. Several units, including the Nachal, will receive collective awards.



Tatyana Sofanova, a Russian woman who was blinded when she attempted to uproot a booby-trapped sign on a Russian highway that read, \"Death to the Jews,\" has arrived in Israel. Her trip was arranged by Russia\'s Chief Rabbi Beryl Lazar, and the Union of Jewish Communities in the former Soviet Union, headed by Lev Levayev, will pick up the tab for her top-grade medical treatment in Israel. Tatyana will be treated in the ophthalmology department of Tel HaShomer Hospital.
