US President George W. Bush has invited Prime Minister Ariel Sharon back to Washington to discuss the current situation in the Middle East. The two world leaders will hold talks in the White House next Monday. The occasion will mark the sixth meeting between Bush and the Israeli leader since Sharon came to power in March of last year.
Prior to the Sharon visit, President Bush will be meeting with Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak in the White House. Mubarak will also be meeting with other top US administration officials including Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Colin Powell and National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice.
As Bush extened his invitation to Sharon, the Prime Minister last night met with CIA Director George Tenet. Also in attendence were Mossad Director Ephraim Halevy, and GSS (General Security Service) Director Avi Dichter. The officials discussed the need for reformations within the Palestinain Authority and other issues related to the current situation in Israel.
