Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today called for dialogue between Israel and Iran following Israeli strikes on Iranian targets in Syria.

Last night Iran's Revolutionary Guards' Quds Force fired a barrage of about 20 rockets towards the Golan Heights forward line. In Syria it was reported the Syrian army fired surface-to-surface missiles at IDF positions in the Golan. In response, the IDF attacked more than 50 Iranian targets in Syria.

"This is a very disturbing trend. We proceed from the fact that all issues should be solved through dialogue," Lavrov said at a press conference, adding that Moscow warned Israel to avoid "all actions that could be seen as provocative."

Similarly, French President Emmanuel Macron called for "de-escalation" between Israel and Iran after the Israeli army struck Iranian targets in Syria. "He calls for a de-escalation", the Presidency said in a statement, adding that Macron would discuss the issue with Angela Merkel when he meets with the German chancellor in Aachen, western Germany, later in the day.

Russia's Defense Ministry said 28 planes took part in last night's raids with a total of around 60 missiles fired.

Israel's Cabinet Secretariat today informed ministers that the Political-Security Cabinet will convene this evening at 6 PM to discuss the northern border escalation.
