MK Amir Ohana (Likud) compared US President Donald Trump to Winston Churchill following Trump's decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal Tuesday.

"I think that what we witnessed yesterday is a Churchillian move by the President, Donald J. Trump, who has proven himself to be a man of his word, and the closest ally - not only that we have - but that we have ever had in the White House," MK Ohana told Arutz Sheva.

"This move will contribute not only to Israel's security and defense, but to the peace of the world, because there is no doubt that the Iranian regime strives to set foot in this region for the purposes of war," he added.

MK Ohana said that Iran "engages in disturbing issues, terrorism, ballistic missiles, and its nuclear program. This is something that we cannot accept."

Yesterday, President Trump announced that the US would withdraw from the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran and reinstate sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

Trump vowed to not only prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, but also to deal with Iran's support for terrorist organizations. its ballistic missile program, and its aggression throughout the Middle East.

"We will not allow American citizens to be threatened with destruction, and we will not allow a regime that chants 'death to America' to gain access to the most deadly weapons on Earth," Trump said.
