MKs Yoav Kish (Likud) and MK Betzalel Smotrich (Jewish Home) sent an urgent letter to cabinet ministers calling for a halt to the demolitions planned by the Civil Administration on Thursday in the community of Mevo'ot Yericho, in the Jordan Valley north of Jericho.
Mevo'ot Yericho, an 18-year-old community built entirely on state land and within the jurisdiction of the community of Yitav, received notice that heavy equipment belonging to the Civil Administration would arrive at the site tomorrow morning to destroy the new access road to the permanent neighborhood and other elements in the same neighborhood. This is in complete contradiction to the government's decision regarding the legalization of communities in Judea and Samaria.
According to the heads of the lobby, despite and contrary to the cabinet's decision, the legalization of Mevo’ot Yericho is being delayed. "In the coming days, it will be a year since you made the decision to establish a team to legalize all the outposts, neighborhoods and communities in Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley, an important and worthy decision aimed at solving a national problem and normalizing the lives of hundreds of normative and pioneering families.”
The leaders of the lobby wrote to the ministers, "The pioneering residents are not to blame for the fact that their community has not yet been legalized, and they should not bear the painful price that lies ahead of them tomorrow morning. We ask you to prevent the destruction that is prepared for tomorrow in Mevo’ot Yericho and to make sure at the upcoming cabinet meeting that your decisions from a year ago are carried out in a timely fashion and at an appropriate standard."
